High-Frequency Cerebral Activation and Interhemispheric Synchronization Following Sudarshan Kriya Yoga as Global Brain Rhythms: The State Effects

This EEG-based study explored the impact of Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY) on brainwave dynamics and interhemispheric synchronization. Findings revealed a significant increase in spectral power across all frequency bands—frontal, central, parietal, temporal, and occipital regions—after SKY practice. Electrical activity shifted toward higher-frequency gamma and beta waves, while asymmetry index values moved toward balance, indicating improved hemispheric coordination. A single SKY session was shown to generate global brain rhythm coherence and enhance attention, memory, emotional regulation, and autonomic control, contributing to overall mental and physical well-being.
