Restoring Brainwave Balance After COVID-19: QEEG Evidence of Neural Recovery Through Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY)

This pilot study examined 15 individuals two months after SARS-CoV-2 infection, a condition known to impair brain activity, concentration, and short-term memory. Using quantitative EEG (QEEG), researchers observed that post-COVID participants who practiced Sudarshan Kriya Yoga (SKY) showed increased Alpha, Beta1, and Beta2 wave activity after just two SKY sessions. These changes reflect enhanced relaxation, focus, and cognitive stability, suggesting a normalization of disrupted brainwave patterns. The findings indicate that breathing-based SKY practices may help restore the brain-immune axis, support post-infection neural recovery, and warrant further investigation in larger clinical studies.
